butterfly tales

a Contemporary Ballet

2019

One night, Zhuangzi dreamed that he was a carefree butterfly, flying happily. After he woke up, he wondered how he could determine whether he was Zhuangzi who had just finished dreaming he was a butterfly, or a butterfly who had just started dreaming he was Zhuangzi.
Parabel by Zhuang Zi

Every little impulse, as small as it might be, has an effect. Reaction follows action, consequence follows input. We pursue the idea of the Chaos Theory which implies that the flap of a butterflie's wing on one side of the planet causes a large effect on the other. This is what we will interpret through dance.

‚butterfly tales’ is  a mobile, contemporary ballet, substantial dance, visually multilayered, excitingly dynamic piece. The three dancers Unita Gay Galiluyo from the Philippines, Jye Hwei Lin from Taiwan and Eiji Takeda from Japan are forming moments of reality dreams and consciousness through the choreography of Andrea K. Schlehwein.
